Homecoming Parade starts Saturday at Muncie Central High School

Ball State University's 'Best Week Ever' ends today with the Homecoming Parade and football game. The parade starts at 8:30 a.m. by the south parking lot at Muncie Central High School, according to the Ball State Homecoming Web site. This year's parade was required to cut many of the floats and bands due to the earlier noon game time.

Muncie to demolish unsafe former factories

Plans to tear down two unsafe buildings in Muncie are underway, but the problem of lingering contaminants leaves the sites still ultimately abandoned. Demolition will soon take place at the Indiana Steel and Wire Factory on East Jackson Street and the Coca-Cola Factory on Willard Street because city building commissioners have deemed these buildings unsafe.

NORAD: Shooting down stray planes always option

INDIANAPOLIS - The U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command won't say how close F-16s came to shooting down a small plane that left its flight plan and later crashed in eastern Indiana, but NORAD says that's always an option in such cases. F-16s were scrambled to intercept the flight Wednesday after it overshot Grand Rapids, Mich.

Ball State students rush Scheumann Stadium field at Homecoming flag football championships

Ball State University students rushed the field at Scheumann Stadium for the first time this year after Sigma Phi Epsilon and Delta Zeta won the Homecoming Flag Football Championship game. Students, the community of Muncie and Charlie Cardinal gathered at the stadium Wednesday night to watch Sigma Phi Epsilon and Delta Zeta defeat Phi Delta Theta and Kappa Delta 25-0.

One suitcase, two children and a husband is all that Lucretia Goe took with her as she fled her native country of Liberia in 1990 to come to the United States. Tuesday night Goe spoke to about 100 students about her family's experiences with the Liberian Civil War of 1990 as part of Ball State University's Freshman Connections program.
