A summer position switch changed Jeremy Hazelbaker's career and made a world of difference last year for Ball State University. Hazelbaker had a breakout season after moving from second base to center field. A crowd of students lined up along Riverside Avenue to watch the 29th annual Homecoming Bed Races at noon on Friday. Jenny Pyle, Homecoming Steering Committee Bed Race chairwoman, said despite the initial bad weather earlier in the morning, attendance proved to be about the same as usual.

A total of 20 groups competed, with Ball State Dance Theatre and the Code Red Dance Troupe performing in exhibition. The independent group Outlet took first place in the independent and overall categories. C-4 took first in the residence hall and fan choice categories.
