FIELD HOCKEY: Ball State regains confidence entering today game vs. Ohio

Coming off a much needed victory, the Ball State University field hockey team looks to get to .500 in the Mid-American Conference play this weekend. Ball State (3-8, 1-3 MAC) will play home games against Ohio University at 1 p.m. Saturday and Kent State University on Sunday.

SOCCER: Central Michigan trounces Ball State

The Ball State University soccer team lost to Central Michigan University 3-0 on Friday in Mount Pleasant, Mich. With the game scoreless and less than five minutes remaining in the first half, Central Michigan's Amanda Waugh scored the game-winning goal. The Chippewas scored two more goals in the first 25 minutes of the second half to take a three goal lead.

PHILADELPHIA - Ball State University blocked a field goal for the first time in two years, but Temple University held its 10-0 lead headed into halftime. The Cardinals stood strong after a holding penalty gave the Owls a first-and-goal at the two yard line.

PHILADELPHIA - A fumble by running back MiQuale Lewis gave Temple University early momentum and a 10-0 lead after the first quarter in their game against Ball State University. After Lewis' fumble, the Owls drove 52 yards to the Cardinals' 10. Brandon Pierce ran the ball in for a touchdown, but it was called back on a holding penalty.

Organizers expect record turnout at Muncie Music Fest

For the third year in a row, Muncie Music Fest is expected to offer a variety of genres and entertainment for people of all ages. Muncie Music Fest starts at 6 p.m. Saturday on Walnut, Jackson and Charles streets. Sixty bands are performing on 12 stages, four of which are outside.

Ball State University is curbing trends in crime on and off campus, a recent study suggests. However, school survey administrator David Fried said there was one negative category that stood out in his mind in the 2009 annual security report and 2008 crime statistics, which were released Thursday.

Ball State considers supporting sorority housing

Ball State University has started to bend the rules on sorority housing. Since the 1950s, a pact of sisterhood kept sororities from building houses until every chapter on campus could afford it. However, when five sororities suites were torn down during the DeHority Complex redesign, accommodations for sorority housing had to be made.

This art takes many forms: the architecture of buildings, the graphic design of billboards, the songs on the radio or the landscape. Although most of these things were created by professionals with years of experience, there are other places where art is being created by students and amateurs that often sadly go unnoticed: the local arts scene.
