 Coach Stan Parrish said he is especially disappointed with the poor start the Cardinals got off to this year, and wants to fix that next year. But Parrish won't be limiting his off-season to improving his team's start.

ATHLETICS: Ball State announces firing of soccer coach Lovett, field hockey coach Payne

Three of the 10 Ball State University women's athletics teams are now searching for leadership after the athletics department announced on Wednesday it would not be renewing the contracts of soccer coach Michael Lovett and field hockey coach Annette Payne.Lovett and Payne join former women's tennis coach Kathy Bull as the three Cardinals' coaches fired within the past month. Bull was fired on Oct. 20 amidst six NCAA violations.

FOOTBALL: Cards notch 10th loss of season with 35-3 thumping from Central Michigan

A tired and limping Ball State University football team ran smack into the best team in the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday night.Quarterback Dan LeFevour led Central Michigan University to a 35-3 thumping of Ball State at Scheumann Stadium. The senior threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns. He also led the Chippewas with 59 rushing yards and another touchdown.

Organization to screen film, bring awareness to civil war in Uganda

Members of the group Invisible Children will be showing a screening of their documentary, "The Rough Cut," Thursday evening in the Cooper Science Building.Freshman political science major Kacie Newhouse, who helped organize the event, said the film will educate Ball State University students about the civil war going on in Uganda.

All last week there was an aura surrounding Ball State women's volleyball (15-15, 7-9) coach Dave Boos. There was an extra spring in his step and a big smile on his face — a smile that was missing for several weeks.Winning five of six and four straight will do that for anyone, especially when a four-game high matches the best streak of the season.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Hundreds of people lined up at stores in Fort Wayne and Noblesville in hopes of meeting Sarah Palin.About 700 people were already in line at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at a Meijer store in Fort Wayne where the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate was scheduled to sign copies of her bestseller, "Going Rogue," starting at noon.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue University has backed away from a total ban on smoking on its main campus and instead will limit it to specific areas while prohibiting smoking in university motor vehicles.

Student opinions to help reform city

The Student Government Association's Chief of Staff Jessica Oxley has been discussing the Muncie Action Plan with Connie Gregory, director of the city's Development Department.Oxley said that the action plan is meant to let city officials hear the public's voice about issues the city faces. She also said that Ball State University and SGA want to get involved.

Get Wired! with Fields and Dreams

Underage students can once again jam to local bands without having to venture off campus.Ball State acoustic artist TJ Fields and local pop-rock band Dreams of University will be playing a free show in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Tally at 8 p.m. tonight as part of University Program Board's weekly Wired! series promoting local bands and musicians.
