Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary hosts Muncie’s first annual Grateful Fest

More than 100 businesses gathered to support Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary’s first annual Grateful Fest at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Aug. 14. The event included live music performances, a pet parade, food trucks, business vendors and a variety of events.

Ball State alumnus shares goals for local composting organization ScrapCycle to reduce waste in Muncie, beyond

Bob Mattax created the local organization ScrapCycle in June 2020 to tackle waste in the Muncie community through composting. Mattax graduated from Ball State in 2000 with a degree in communications and has called Muncie home ever since.

Ball State jazz group performs at Indianapolis District Theatre

After a long year of live performances on hold, a jazz group from Ball State performed at the District Theatre in Indianapolis June 4. "The Jacob Smith Quartet" was formed by senior jazz bass performance major Jacob Smith and his group of friends that he met in the School of Music.

Indiana Chief Equity, Inclusion and Opportunity Officer Karah Herring shares her progress in first four months of position

In November 2020, Karrah Herring was appointed as the Indiana government’s first-ever chief equity, inclusion and opportunity officer by Gov. Eric Holcomb, a position she stepped into in February of this year. On May 26, 2021, she reflected in a Zoom presentation on her goals to build diversity and foster an inclusive environment within the state government to better provide services to every state citizen.

Throughout the fall semester, sophomore music education major Aiden Cangany brought his trombone, music stand and sheet music to Ball State’s parking garages for a wide, open area to practice.
