A memorial was held Aug. 24 at Ball State University's David and Mary Jane Sursa Performance Hall for Michael Elliott, a coordinator for the musical theater program at Ball State's Department of Theatre and Dance. Elliott died July 18, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Alumni, current theater students, friends, and colleagues shared stories and sang songs in honor of Elliott. Elliott taught individual voice lessons and repertoire, conducted master classes, oversaw curriculum development and music-directed various productions within the Department of Theatre and Dance. Michael is survived by his wife Kate Elliott, a lecturer for the School of Journalism and Strategic Communication — who he was married to for 15 years — and two children, Rose and William.
