Students and community members gathered in front of Scotty's Brewhouse March 17 at 9:45 a.m. for the start of the 2018 Shamrock Shuffle. All finishers receive the Excalibur Sword medal and one complimentary beer at Scotty's Brewhouse.


Ball State played Dayton March 16 at Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark. The Cardinals lost 3-4.

Students and faculty line up along McKinley Avenue March 14, National Walk Out Day, for the Ball State Walk Out in protest of gun violence. The event was organized by BSU Democrats and elementary education professor Dr. James Stroud. Stroud made orange shirts that said "#NEVERAGAIN Books not Bullets" and bracelets that said "Enough" and "Never Again". UPD estimated 500 people participated in the event that honored the Parkland shooting victims.

The 11th annual Ball State Dance Marathon took place Feb. 17 in the Field and Sports Building. Participants raised $653,011.23 for Riley Hospital for Children. The donations help fund the Magic Castle Cart — a program that delivers more than 20,000 gifts to patients, parents and siblings annually — and pediatric palliative care.
