Skits highlight gay issues of '90s

As Melissa sat at her desk in a 1990s workplace, she wasn't surprised to hear she was one of 10 pregnant women in the office that year. But she was surprised to hear one thing from her guardian angel dressed in white - her baby would be born gay. "One in every 10 children born in America are gay, and I just want to tell you you're the 10th," said junior Zac Davis, who acted as Melissa's queer guardian angel during a skit Thursday night, organized by Ball State University's gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender straight alliance.



OUR VIEW: Un-due process

When University Senate decided to implement schedule changes to eliminate Saturday finals, it was supposedly for the benefit of students, faculty, staff and the university as a whole. Given that intent, the senate wanted to enact the policy as soon as possible, but senators were informed that schedule changes could not be made for the 2006-07 school year because the schedule was already set.

For the Ball State University softball team, hopes of reaching the Mid-American Conference tournament may be decided by the end of this weekend. With eight games remaining in the MAC season and one game behind Northern Illinois University (18-21, 6-8 MAC) for the final postseason spot, the Cardinals (12-23, 5-9) will be traveling north to play in a doubleheader against Central Michigan University (16-22, 7-5).


MEN'S GOLF: Another lineup change in store for Cardinals at First Energy tourney

Despite some less-than-stellar play in recent weeks, the men's golf team has high expectations for the First Energy Intercollegiate this weekend. "I want to go win the tournament," coach Mike Fleck said. Ball State University fell five spots to a ninth place finish in the final round at the Kepler Invitational two weeks ago, and finished tied for 10th out of 12 teams at the Fossum/Taylor Made Invitational this past weekend.

As a result, 15 Ball State University student ambassadors to the Model United Nations Security Council met Thursday to discuss the action that would be taken on Iran.
