DON'T TAKE THIS TOO SERIOUSLY: Spring Break fun in Muncie

Lacking funds and needing to save up money for summer, I decided to stay in Muncie and work over Spring Break. How bad could it really be? To make sure I didn't go clinically insane being in Muncie for 10 days straight with 90 percent of my friends in Florida, I went home to Indianapolis Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday.



Cardinal teams travel country during break with mixed results

BASEBALL The Ball State University baseball team played eight games over Spring Break, going 5-3. In the Myrtle Beach Hyundai-Isuzu Classic, the Cardinals lost 3-1 to Georgia Southern University on Mar. 9 then lost 5-0 to Coastal Carolina University Saturday.


Ball State Museum of Art holds new slogan contest

Since Tomohiro Kemmochi began his graduate studies at Ball State University, he has only been to the Museum of Art once. But, his single visit was enough to inspire him to enter the museum's slogan contest, which began last year, and will end March 30. Carl Schafer, associate director of the Museum of Art, said the museum is looking for a slogan that is humorous and clever and "has a resonance with younger people.


OUR VIEW: Cardinal pride

The Ball State University women's basketball team will take the next step in its record-setting season with tonight's game in the second round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament. The game against the University of Kentucky is the third time the Cardinals have been to the WNIT.


Students mourn through Web sites

Even though Ball State University student Alyssa Couch died in November, her life-long best friend still writes messages on her Facebook profile. "I miss making picture frames, scrapbooking and setting the timer on our cameras so EVERYONE can be in the picture," junior Stephanie Marks wrote on Feb.



Cardinals lose WNIT game at home

At halftime of today's matchup between Ball State University and the University of Kentucky, the Cardinals are trailing the Wildcats 45-40 in the second round of the WNIT. Scoring wise, Ball State has been behind the entire game, with a deficit as large as 12 points with 8:05 remaining.

Whenever I turn on the television set or pick up the newspaper and read the front page headline, I am confronted with tragedy; the headlines stare back at me bold and black, telling of another victim involved in one more heinous and brutal crime. The news never ceases to amaze me with the barbaric acts of violence that occur on a daily basis.


JUST LISTEN: Presidential candidates are hopeless

As the 2008 presidential election nears, an unending stream of alleged leaders begin posturing for president. Official candidates on the left comprise of such human travesties as Biden, Clinton, Dodd, Edwards, Gravel, Kucinich and Obama. Candidates on the right include Brownback, Cox, Giuliani, Hunter, McCain, Paul, Romney and Smith.



UPD moves during break

The Ball State University Police Department moved during Spring Break to a location that better fits the needs of students, staff and faculty, university officials said. Most of the UPD personnel moved to the former Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house at 200 N.


FOOTBALL: Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana highlight 2007 season

One season after a 24-23 loss to Indiana University at Scheumann Stadium, the Ball State University football team will get another chance at the Hoosiers in 2007. However, this time it will be in Bloomington on Nov. 3. Indiana is one of five non-conference games for the Cardinals this year.

Fogg, founded by Ann Johnson, a 1972 Ball State University alumna. Johnson used clothes-dryer lint from her babies' washables to make her own paper and save money on art supplies.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals to take on Kentucky

The story of the Ball State University women's basketball season is a lesson in making the most of what is given. The Cardinals had hoped for an at-large berth into the women's NCAA Tournament. However, after being left out of the field of 64 teams, Ball State will set its eyes on making noise in the Women's National Invitational Tournament.


OUR VIEW: It's not 'gay'

Someone refers to your bisexual friend as a switch-hitter. Statements like these are made across Ball State University's campus on a daily basis.

2007 schedule announced for Ball State football team

A difficult non-conference schedule is once again on tap for the Ball State University football team. The Cardinals will play four of its five non-conference games on the road. Ball State will travel to Navy and Nebraska on Sept. 15 and Sept. 22, respectively.


Women named host of second round WNIT game

After failing to earn an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament, it was announced Tuesday that Ball State University's women's basketball team will host a game in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. The Cardinals earned a first-round bye in the NIT and will play their second-round game on in Worthen Arena on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. against the winner of the first-round matchup of University of Kentucky and Oakland University.


WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals' offense struggles in championship

CLEVELAND - Julie DeMuth, who averages 15.6 points per game, was held to seven, and Ball State University, a team that averages a 45.6 percent shooting mark was held was held to only 34 percent as Bowling Green State University completely shut down Ball State's offense.
