OUR VIEW: Weekend-o-fun

It's every Ball State University students' worst nightmare: the time when friends from other schools ask about spring events that would be fun to go to. The sad truth is that many students outside Ball State would choose to attend events around the state instead of the Carnival, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Kings, queens strut stuff

The Cream Girls, three men dressed in sequined, ankle-length gowns and pancake makeup, climbed the bleachers of Ball Gym on Saturday night. The women's flashy act was the finale to a night filled with men and women singing and dancing while dressed as the opposite gender.

JUST LISTEN: Students need to follow own goals in career

Recently, I boarded a plane and watched this guy bark a litany of instructions into his cell phone. The viciousness of each command sounded as though whatever he was talking about was a matter of life and death. He spent the majority of the flight taking copious notes as he poured over various business materials.

WHO, ME?: Instant history misses point

New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez is posting perhaps the greatest April in major league baseball history. So said Karl Ravech of ESPN, who called Friday night's Yankees Red Sox game where A-Rod went deep two more times, making it twelve home runs for the slugger in fifteen games of the season - the quickest pace in baseball history, putting him in line for 130 home runs for the year if his pace somehow keeps up.

MEN'S GOLF: BSU places 12th out of 13 teams

With less than two weeks until the Mid-American Conference Championships, this was not the time for the Ball State University men's golf team to play poorly. After coming off a second place finish at the Marshall Invitational, the Cardinals finished 12th out of 13 teams at the Fossum Taylor Made Invitational.

TURNING A BLIND EYE: Change needed for dollar coins to be successful

It's been two months since the U.S. Mint released the first of the so-called Presidential Dollar coins, and I've yet to actually hold one in my hand. You see, Americans have a bit of a problem when it comes to introducing dollar coins into national circulation.

OUR VIEW: Lighter fare

Food - for some it's all about the taste, but for most Ball State University students it's about getting as much as possible for the lowest price. The benefits of buying food in bulk are nice on the wallet, but health concerns are another important consideration.
