Locker Room to change locations

A popular Village sports bar will move from its current location to the corner of McKinley and University avenues sometime during Fall Semester, but a definite date has not yet been determined, owner Scott Dalton said. The Giant Locker Room, currently located on the corner of University Avenue and Martin Street, will have outside seating, an additional bar and a doubled occupancy when it moves, Dalton said.



Team looking to fill offensive void

After leaning heavily on three seniors last year, the primary issue surrounding the Ball State University field hockey team entering the 2007 season is getting increased production out of its players. Last season the Cardinals' three-pronged attack of Carla Chiampi, Tara Reed and 2006 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Lindsay Quay combined to record 60 points, tallying 25 goals and 10 assists.


Former Ball State administrator gets job at high school

The Ball State administrator who saw 48 student-athletes violate the NCAA's "extra benefits" rule has been hired as assistant principal at an Indiana school. The Nettle Creek school board named David Land, former director of athletic compliance at Ball State, to the job at Hagerstown Junior-Senior High School on Tuesday.

When Billy Taylor entered the lounge at Worthen Arena to be introduced as the new head basketball coach of Ball State University, he faced a group of people who knew very little about him. MEN'S BASKETBALL: Ron Hunter will not be Ball State's new coach

IUPUI head men's basketball coach Ron Hunter has taken his name out of the running to fill the vacancy at Ball State University, IUPUI officials announced Tuesday. ESPN's Andy Katz reported Monday that Hunter was close to signing a deal with Ball State and that an announcement could come as soon as Tuesday.


Letterman to visit campus

Ball State University alumnus David Letterman will visit campus this fall when the Communication and Media Building celebrates its grand opening. The Board of Trustees announced this afternoon the building will be named after Letterman. President Jo Ann Gora referred to the building as the Letterman Communication and Media Building, but the official name has not yet been decided.

Firefighters battle blaze at historic downtown building

Two firefighters were injured while putting out a fire at a historic building in downtown Muncie Friday. The fire took place at the J.C. Johnson House, which was built in the 1890s and now houses Our Daily Bread Restaurant and Catering. The fire damaged the third floor of the building, which is an appartment.



Let her reign

For the first time in 50 years, a Ball State University student was crowned Miss Indiana. Nicole Rash, a junior majoring in fashion design and Spanish took the title Saturday at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center with a crowd of more than 1,500 looking on.



Summer attraction

Despite the recent rainfall, Muncie residents are enjoying the Delaware County Fair at the fairgrounds near Minnetrista. The standard food and rides can be found at the year's carnival, with everything from elephant ears to sweet corn and Tilt-A-Whirl to the classic Ferris wheel.

Nadalie Walsh has been chosen from a field of nine candidates to be the next women's gymnastics coach at Ball State University, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said Monday.
