MEN'S BASKETBALL: MAC play opens with defeat

There's a saying in college basketball that your season resets three times: the beginning of the season, the beginning of your conference season and the beginning of your conference tournament. Although Ball State University's season reset for the second time Sunday, the end result looked a lot like the team's first nine games -- all defeats.

OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL: Foreskin: the controversey

Foreskin. Yes, that's the skin that naturally covers the head of the penis. If you're a Midwest-born man of college age, chances are about 74 percent you don't have one, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, and you probably pity any guy who does.

There was little to no property damage resulting from two water leaks during Winter Break. Kevin Kenyon, associate vice president of facilities planning and management, said water seeped through the walls at the foundation of Carmichael Hall. FOOTBALL: Rutgers' aerial attack helps Rice's romp

TORONTO - While Ray Rice was named the International Bowl Most Valuable Player with 280 rushing yards and four touchdowns, the threat of a Rutgers University passing game opened the flood gates that Rice raced through for much of the game. On the first drive of the game, Rice ran three times for 24 yards but the big play of the drive was a 36-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Mike Teel to wide receiver Tim Brown.

Knock off the rust, get to the gym

Students excited to hit the gym and get started on a New Year's resolution or a Spring Break figure need to pause before hitting the gym, Amanda Salyer-Funk, assistant director for Ball State University Recreation Services said. "It's rather dangerous to assume you know what you're doing," she said.

Stuff it

In the realm of college student spending habits, less is best. However, with the holiday season upon us, it's time to start shelling out a few dollars to reward those who have put up with your antics throughout the year. Whether it's an exceptionally understanding roommate or the resident assistant who made your semester a little brighter, inexpensive gift options are abound at Wal-Mart and many other stores.
