Ball State University is working to allow professors to profit from some of their work done outside the classroom. Provost Terry King said the university might allow professors to commercialize intellectual property, which is a patent or copyright on academic research and textbooks with potential commercial value.

Rep. Mike Pence, who serves the sixth district of Indiana, begins reauthorization of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief this week. The reauthorization will begin when the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives takes up a bill called "The Global HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act of 2008," which will continue PEPFAR and increase its funds, Pence said.

Ball State University is investigating the allegation that Delta Tau Delta fraternity had alcohol on chapter property during the weekend, Cara Luyster, assistant director of the Office of Student Life, said. According to a press release from the Delta Tau Delta International fraternity, the university sanctioned the fraternity by not allowing alcohol on chapter property until August 2009.
Health Education, along with National Panhellenic Council, will offer free HIV/AIDS testing today in observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Health Educator Lisa Thomason said. The testing is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in L.A. Pittenger Student Center rooms 301 and 302, Thomason said.
An initiative inspired and driven by students for three years will begin to materialize in March. Renovation to Irving Gym begins its first phase this semester, representing the interests of Ball State University students and the product of administrators listening to the students' input.
