Dining encourages students to order food on Internet

When Dining initiated its online food ordering system Fall Semester it intended for the service to make lines shorter for Ball State University students wanting to get something to eat. Deb Hutton, manager of training for Dining, said that concept has not happened as well as Dining would like because of low marketing, but students are still using the service to get the quickest, most efficient food service possible.

Senators revote Faroh as president pro-tempore

A parliamentary procedure violation caused the Ball State University Student Government Association to revote on who would be its president pro-tempore during its Wednesday meeting. During the April 2 SGA meeting Jimmy Faroh was voted to take the position with 50 percent of the vote, or eight votes.


ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING: Millennials fail to launch, land in grad school

The workforce isn't ready for me yet. And, to be honest, I'm not ready for it. I'm a millennial, the generation of people born in the 1980s and early '90s, mostly to baby boomer parents. Millennials thrive on being connected to their social groups - through text messages, social networks and wireless Internet, among a very large number of other things.



Stadium lot to get paved this summer

The Ball State University class of 2013 will be able to avoid one complaint of previous freshman classes: the football stadium parking lot. Jim Lowe, director of engineering and operations, said paving of the stadium parking lot would begin in mid-May. Half of the lot will be completed by the end of July, he said.


Fraternity meets goal for blood drive

For students on their way to classes, a bus with workers from the Indiana Blood Center were in their way. Adam Cooper, committee service chairman for Theta Chi fraternity, said the fraternity planned at the beginning of Spring Semester to have a blood drive because each member was required to do four hours of community service.

Will Statom, a voter registration deputy, lived many people's dreams Wednesday when he punched a journalist and a congressional candidate. This man processes our voter registration forms. All the forms we filled out right before the deadline are sitting in the office of someone who threw a temper tantrum.


Students line up for tickets

With more than 500 people still standing outside, and 3,000 tickets already handed out, the Muncie Obama for America office ran out of tickets Wednesday evening. Quickly, the campaign workers grabbed notebook paper, pens and clipboards to sign the remaining crowd to a waiting list.



Vacant position to be filled Monday

In an emergency meeting Wednesday, the Delaware County Clerks office reached a decision to fill the vacant position on the Board of Voter Registration to help with the influx of newly registered voters. However, Democrats and Republicans disagree on the necessity of filling the position.

No. 9 Ohio State University defeated the No. 8 Ball State University men's volleyball team 30-23 in game three and now lead their best-of-five match 2-1. Outside attacker has a match-high nine kills and the Cardinals had a .340 attack percentage in game one.

Mommy, I'm home

When Rhiannon Cizon left Ball State University, she imagined finding a well-paying job and living an independent lifestyle suitable to a college grad. The 2007 graduate earned bachelor's degrees in fashion design and public history, and soon thereafter landed an internship working as a tour guide in New York City.



SOFTBALL: Cards have offensive explosion

After struggling to get its offense going Tuesday, the Ball State University softball team did not have the same problem Wednesday as it scored 21 runs in a doubleheader at IUPUI. The Cardinals (26-20, 4-4 Mid-American Conference) swept the series against the Jaguars by winning the first game 6-0 and the second game 15-0.

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jim Schellinger spoke to a small group at the local United Auto Workers chapter Tuesday evening. He began telling the audience about his past and about how he was the sixth of eight children and lived in a three bedroom house as a child.


MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Nine Cardinals named Academic All-MIVA

Nine members of the No. 8 Ball State University men's volleyball team were named to the 2008 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Academic All-Conference Team on Tuesday. Outside attackers Todd Chamberlain, Mark Termion and middle attacker Ben Irwin received the award for the third consecutive season, and middle attacker Justin Orr was on the team for the second straight season.


MEN'S GOLF: Cardinal wins weekly conference award

The Mid-American Conference honored a Ball State University junior as the conference's men's golfer of the week Wednesday. Andrew Rhodes earned the honor for his performance at the Marshall Invitational Saturday, in which he tied for 14th overall individually.


SOFTBALL: Cards rally late for victory

Things were not going the way of the Ball State University softball team through the first 83 outs of a doubleheader against IPFW on Tuesday at the BSU Softball Complex. Then, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinals loaded the bases and freshman Lisa Rozanski, who had zero hits in her last 19 at bats, came to the plate.
