The Ball State University track and field team's personal record books are heavy with ink from this weekend's competition, when the Cardinals broke numerous individual season records. The Cardinals also jotted down five top 10 finishes from the 22nd annual Meyo Invitational.
OXFORD, Ohio - Walking around the Nixon Aquatic center Friday night, one would have thought the Ball State University swimming and diving team beat Miami University. During and after the meet, the majority of the RedHawk swimmers seemed solemn and downtrodden, while the Cardinals were upbeat and enjoying themselves.
What happened at the Board of Trustees meeting on Friday is the same thing that happens every year: an increase in room and board rates was approved. But with students more strapped for cash than usual this year, the increase seems to matter more than in the past.

The Ball State University gymnastics team fell to No. 26 Northern Illinois University 191.300 to 192.925 Sunday afternoon in Worthen Arena. Ball State dropped its record to 1-4 (0-4 Mid-American Conference) in a meet in which the point margin was decided in large part by pivotal falls.
The No. 13 Ball State University men's volleyball team defeated Rutgers-Newark University 30=23 in game one of their best-of-five match tonight at Worthen Arena. Trailing 9-5, Ball State went an 11-2 run to take a four-point lead. The Cardinals would led by as many as eight points in the game.

The Ball State University Board of Trustees approved a 4.4 percent increase in room and board costs for Fall 2009 in its meeting Friday. Students who have finished one year of the two-year premium plan will not see an increase, Student Trustee Kellie Conrad said.

The Ball State University swimming and diving team will finish its dual-meet season tonight against Miami University. "Miami is probably the premiere team in the [Mid-American Conference] this year," coach Laura Seibold-Caudill said. "They give us the best competition we have seen all year.
