BASEBALL: Indians call up former Cards pitcher

Almost two months after he was claimed off waivers, former Ball State University pitcher Bryan Bullington was called up by the Cleveland Indians to start Saturday. Bullington, who is the Cardinals' all-time leader in wins and strikeouts, will start the second game of a day-night doubleheader Saturday in Cleveland against the Kansas City Royals.


WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards release schedule

Coach Kelly Packard got what she wanted. Hoping to get her team tournament experience before the conference season, the first-year coach got her wish as the Ball State University women's basketball team announced Tuesday it will play in two non-conference tournaments during the 2008-09 season.

Elections for Hall Councils begin

Residence hall council elections are being held this week on Ball State University's campus. "Hall council acts as a voice for students living in the residence halls," Matt Bloomingdale, director of Brayton/Clevenger halls, said. "Hall council focuses on issues like floor meetings, dining services and can help to answer other questions from residents.


Administrator to leave university

Tom Morrison, associate vice president for human resources and state relations, said he is leaving Ball State University after taking a position as associate vice president for public affairs and government relations at Indiana University. "This university is absolutely great and the administration is very supportive of me seeking this opportunity," Morrison said.

Royalty Fashion Show to kick off events

The first act of this year's Homecoming begins today with the Homecoming Royalty Fashion Show. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Pruis Hall, with an admission of $1. Homecoming Publicity Chair Jennifer Regnier said there are 36 couples from different student organizations who will compete in the fashion show.


New center could target youth vote

The Delaware County election board failed to make a decision Tuesday on if Ball State should have an early voting center on campus. Citing the need for more information on the subject, the board scheduled to meet again on the matter Wednesday, Sept. 17. According to Indiana state law, county election boards are responsible to determine if residents may vote early -- up to 30 days prior to election day -- within each particular county.


WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cardinal frustration

The Ball State University women's volleyball team lost 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-20) to IUPUI Tuesday night in Worthen Arena. The match, which was televised regionally on PBS as a Ball State Sports Network production, saw the Cardinals lose the momentum after winning the first set.


MEN'S GOLF: Cards play terrible in invitational, coach says

For the second straight week, the Ball State University men's golf team had its best score in the final round of competition. However, it was not enough to place the Cardinals in top of the leader board. Ball State finished 11th out of 13 teams at the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio.


MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: MIVA championship rematch set

Coach Joel Walton has not yet released the Ball State University men's volleyball team's 2009 schedule, but his players and he already know two dates to mark on their calendars. Less than four months after Ohio State University swept Ball State in the conference championship match, the Buckeyes announced their 2009 schedule last week and will play the Cardinals on March 11, 2009 in Columbus, Ohio, and March 27 at Worthen Arena.
