Ball State worker injured at North Hall

A construction crew member at the North Hall construction site was taken away by ambulance to Ball Memorial Hospital at about 4 p.m. today. The identity of the worker and the nature of his injuries are unknown. University Police Department officers would not comment at this time.


College Republicans sponsor shuttle to early vote center

Students wishing to vote early this year can save some gas if they go this week. Ball State University College Republicans, with the Mitch Daniels for Governor campaign, is sponsoring a van to shuttle students from campus to the Delaware County Government Center all week.

Locations changed for early voting van

The Ball State Campus Republicans changed the pick-up locations of the shuttle van that transports students to the Delaware County Government Center for early voting. The van will run on campus from 8 a.m. for 4 p.m. the rest of the week.

SOCCER: Lovett hurting after weekend

This weekend proved to coach Michael Lovett that the best team does not always win. The Ball State University soccer team (7-7, 3-3 Mid-American Conference) lost a pair of 1-0 games this weekend with a double overtime loss to Bowling Green State University (9-3-3, 4-1-1 MAC) Friday and then another loss to the University of Toledo (9-4, 4-2 MAC) Sunday.


Doc's on Dill St. moves into Mo's Tavern

Students no longer have to travel the mile and a half off Ball State University's campus to get the experience of Doc's Music Hall. Doc's on Dill Street opens today at 505 N. Dill St., taking the place of Mo's Tavern. Co-owner Mike Martin said he wanted the bar to be similar the downtown location.


Judge orders vandal to teach art class

A Middlebury man who was caught vandalizing Ball State University buildings in May will use his artistic abilities as part of his sentence. On Oct. 3, Circuit Court 3 Judge Robert Barnet sentenced Thomas Owen Mast, 21, to 100 hours of community service teaching art classes at the YMCA or the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie after Mast pleaded guilty to two felony counts of institutional criminal mischief.


WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State survives with split

In an early-season battle for first place in the Mid-American Conference West Division on Saturday night, the Ball State University women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Western Michigan University. With the loss to the Broncos, the Cardinals (8-12, 4-2 MAC) were bumped out of a tie for first place in the MAC West Division with Western Michigan and Central Michigan University, who are still leading the pack.

For Ball State University fans, this means they need to climb up the rankings and get into the top 12 by the time the conference championship week is over.


Ball State student dies after childbirth

Kirsten Reynolds had a strong passion for children, something that lasted all her life. Reynolds, 20, a junior social work major at Ball State University, died Oct. 8 after giving birth to her son, Jalen Robert. Funeral services are noon Tuesday at Allen Chapel AME Church in Indianapolis.
