Student dies over break

Ball State University sophomore Sarah Woodruff is remembered as being aware of people who needed a helping hand or a kind word. Woodruff's mother Lucetta Woodruff said many people loved her daughter because she always noticed people who seemed unhappy and was willing to help them with their problems, sometimes when she didn't even know the person.

GYMNASTICS: Cards beat Penn in season opener

For the first time in her Ball State University gymnastic coaching career Nadalie Walsh has a winning record. Ball State won all four events as it defeated the University of Pennsylvania 190.725 to 184.350 in its season opener Friday in Philadelphia. This was Ball State's second win since Walsh became the head coach in August 2007.
