'Vagina Monologues' helps charity

"The Vagina Monologues" begins tonight at 7 p.m. in Ball State University's Fine Arts Building in room 217 in honor of V-Day 2009. The play will show once a night, starting today, until Wednesday. An informational fair about volunteer opportunities working against violence on women will follow the play.



BASEBALL: Goodbye baseball, goodbye Hoosiers: Ball State wins with walk-off

It looked like the Ball State University baseball team was headed to its third extra-innings game of the season as the team entered the ninth inning tied at four with Indiana University. But junior center fielder Jeremy Hazelbaker sent everyone home on time with a walk-off solo home run off Hoosier reliever Matt Carr.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Key plays in clutch leads to Ball State sweep

The Ball State University men's volleyball team defeated IPFW 30-23 in game one of their best-of-five match tonight at Worthen Arena. Ball State out-hit IPFW .333 to -.024. Outside attackers Marcus Imwalle and Todd Chamberlain have a match-high five kills.


MEN'S TENNIS: Ball State gets another shot at knocking off Big Ten team

The Ball State University men's tennis team will get a chance to take down a Big Ten team on Sunday and score state bragging rights in the process. Casual fans might not boast about their tennis teams, but the Cardinals hope to give fans something to cheer about if they can defeat Purdue University.



WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards look to go for MAC Michigan trifecta

After picking up two Mid-American Conference wins on the road in Michigan this past week, the Ball State University women's basketball team returns to Worthen Arena to take on Western Michigan University at 1 p.m. Saturday. Although they beat both Central Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University on the road, coach Kelly Packard said she doesn't think the Cardinals (19-8, 11-2 MAC) are playing their best basketball.


TRACK AND FIELD: Ball State enters MAC Championship as leader in four events

The Ball State University track and field team tosses a pair of worn-in cleats and a heap of hope into its travel bags in preparation for the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Kent, Ohio. Competing beside Ball State is Bowling Green State University, the University at Buffalo, Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Kent State University, Miami University, Northern Illinois University, Ohio University, the University of Toledo and Western Michigan University.



MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Rivalry renewed with IPFW tonight

As middle attacker J.D. Gasparovic thought about tonight's match during practice this week, he could not help but get excited. Having a love to play in intense situations, the all-conference player said this is the perfect setting for him against the team's biggest rival.


BASEBALL: Cardinals continue in-state rivalry during tournament in Tennessee

Renewing an in-state rivalry will take the Ball State University baseball team outside state lines this weekend. The Cardinals will participate in the Govs Baseball Invitational and open the round-robin format against Indiana University Friday. Ball State is 2-2 after splitting its season-opening series against Furman University.


GYMNASTICS: Cards travel to Kentucky to compete in five-team meet

It will be a battle of the Midwest and the East Coast Thursday evening when the Ball State University gymnastics team travels to Lexington, Ky., for a 7 p.m. meeting against the universities of Kentucky, Illinois, North Carolina and the College of William and Mary.


SOFTBALL: Ball State continues season with another trip to the South

For the second time in as many weeks, the Ball State University softball team heads South for a five-game invitational. This weekend, the Cardinals head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Razorback Invitational. The Cardinals look to improve their 3-2 record behind the right arm of pitcher Elizabeth Milian, who went 2-1 in last weekend's Georgia Softball Classic.
