Ball State University men's basketball freshman center Jarrod Jones was announced today as the MAC Report Online Newcomer of the Year award winner - one day after receiving All-Mid-American Conference Honorable Mention honors and being named to the MAC All-Freshman team by the league office.

The Ball State University women's golf team will tee off in Rio Verde, Ariz., today in 20-team field. Northern Arizona University plays host to six Mid-American Conference teams along with three Big Ten teams. The Cardinals played in this same tournament almost exactly a year ago, finishing in a tie for ninth out of 18 teams.

SWIMMING AND DIVING: Lone Cardinal prepares for NCAA Zone Diving Championship

Lewellen Pool was fairly quiet this week except for the occasional splash from the diving well. Lisa Maertin is the only member of the Ball State University swimming and diving team still competing after qualifying for the NCAA Zone Diving Championship. It is the second time the junior diver has qualified for the event.
