Social Justice League fights injustice at Ball State

Gunnar Ingólfsson, whose group led the Paint for Peace display last year, said he hopes students will join his organization which promotes peace in the face of discrimination. On Thursday night, students will have an opportunity to join this 15-member group Ingólfsson has deemed the Social Justice League.

Ball State University's first immersive learning project that produced a commercial film continues to rack up awards."My Name is Jerry" won Best Feature Film in the 2010 Santa Clarita Valley Film Festival in California. It was one of more than 700 submissions in the contest.


UPB to sponsor student bus to Pacers game

While winter months prevent University Program Board from scheduling the amount of events it would like, they can't bring the organization to a complete stop. University Program Board begins registration at 8 a.m. today for its trip to Indianapolis to see the Pacers play the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 27.

Heart of the City, Muncie's downtown district, announced new contest events for Muncie Gras this year with provisions to host the event regardless of weather conditions.



Ball State accommodates for wheelchair users

Like many others, Jacob Lipson lives in Noyer Complex. In the morning, he gets up, uses the bathroom and gets dressed. When it is cold, he dresses appropriately, like anyone else. The difference between Lipson's morning routine and those of the majority of Ball State University students is that he uses a wheelchair throughout.


SVS: MLK Day about volunteering

Student Voluntary Services is encouraging students to spend their Monday off doing community service in Muncie. SVS is sponsoring several projects Monday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day and to encourage student activism.



UPB to sponsor bus to Pacers game

University Program Board will begin registration for its trip to Indianapolis to see the Pacers play later in the month. According to a press release, the first 90 students to register will pay only $10 to see the Los Angeles Lakers at the Indianapolis Pacers on Jan. 27. The $10-fee must be paid at the time of registration, and it covers a balcony ticket to the basketball game and transportation by bus to and from Indianapolis. The bus will leave the L.A. Pittenger Student Center at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and return at about 11:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the Office of Student Center Programs at 305 N. College Ave.


CAP recognized for practicing social justice

In its December issue, Architect Magazine recognized Ball State University's College of Architecture and Planning among six universities across the country for promoting social justice through its architecture program.


Knitting takes patience, practice for beginners

The snow has been coming down hard this year and temperatures have been below average throughout most of the country, especially in the Midwest. What better way to keep warm while walking to class than by wearing a hand-knitted scarf or hat? Maybe you could knit one for a friend to help keep them warm.
