Nursing students required to use iPod Touch, iPhone

A new standard for Ball State University students in the School of Nursing requires students to buy new technology for clinical components. The School of Nursing made the purchase of an iPod Touch or an iPhone mandatory this past fall after using Windows-based smartphones in the past, Brandon Campbell, lead technology services specialist for the School of Nursing, said.


Students happy about return of Blue Loop

Students sat huddled in the cold waiting for the bus to arrive at one of the nine stops along the Blue Loop bus route at Ball State University. The Blue Loop, which runs until Spring Break, has been in service for four years and charters students that live in nearby neighborhoods off campus in order to keep them out of the cold.


College 'gender gap' favoring women stops growing nationally

On college campuses, female undergraduates have outnumbered men and outperformed them academically for years, but a new report out Tuesday finds those gaps have stopped growing in key areas including enrollment and bachelor's degrees. One notable exception is young Hispanic men - especially new immigrants - who are falling further behind Hispanic women.

Apple releases iPad

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple Inc. will sell the newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499, a price tag far below the $1,000 that some analysts were expecting. The iPad, which is larger in size but similar in design to Apple's popular iPhone, was billed by CEO Steve Jobs on Wednesday as 'so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smartphone.'
