Sutton Foster departs leaving advice, lessons

Musical theatre majors performed for Sutton Foster, the Tony Award-winning Broadway star, during her five-day stay in Muncie Jan. 26 to 30. She visited the university's Department of Theatre and Dance to watch master classes and offered feedback on how students could improve.



MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State kept out of rankings; Ohio State drops to No. 14

Four days before playing the defending conference champions, Ball State learned Monday it would enter that match as an unranked team. The Cardinals received five votes in the newest top 15 coaches poll and will be outside the national rankings when it plays Ohio State on Friday at Worthen Arena.


MEN'S BASKETBALL: Jones named co-MAC West Player of the Week

Jones has followed his stellar freshman campaign last season by averaging a team-best 12.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this year. His scoring average ranks seventh in the MAC, while his rebounding ranks third. Jones also ranks seventh in blocked shots with 1.05 per game.


The price of experience

Senior architecture major Rodolfo Arroyo said he had been looking for an internship since the beginning of 2009. He applied for five internships and only one firm called back, just to tell him they were not looking for interns at the time.




University Singers hit high notes

Sophomore music performance major Brad Kieper has always wanted to sing onstage. At the annual University Singers Cabaret concert Friday in Sursa Hall, he sang the opening solo, 'You Raise Me Up' by Josh Groban, as director Alan Alder accompanied him on piano.
