MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State community thrives through the students, staff, and activities. Students come together in and out of class times to work and socialize. There are many places on campus where people can hang out, relax, and work on classwork. From Beneficence to Frog Baby, famous Ball State landmarks welcome students to spend time outside, escaping the confines of their dorms.
TiYanna Gholston said, “Taking the time to prioritize your work but also to spend those times that you have with your friends, I think you can get a pretty good time with your major.”
While in class, students can work together in groups, get to know their professors, and give input in essential discussions. Students come together to create big ideas and learn to work together, even with differences. Getting to know professors is a key tip for navigating the campus community. Students may find connections and inspiration through getting to know their professors.
Gholston also said, “Speaking with your professor, getting to know them more would definitely help because they might be willing to give you more resources, and it also makes the class a little bit easier, easygoing during lectures and things like that, so you can always get the extra help when you get to know them a little bit more.”
Outside of the classroom, clubs and activities provide students with an opportunity to meet new people and have fun as a community. Hammocking, picnicking, and campus walks are some of the common ways students spend their time outside of class. This week, homecoming, provides a week-long series of fun-filled events for students to participate in and observe. This time also highlights welcoming alumni back to their college campus to reminisce.
