SELMA, Ind. — Wapahani Boys Basketball is no stranger to winning seasons since they've only lost nine games in the past three seasons.
Head coach Matt Luce is blessed to have coached great teams at Wapahani, but the feeling with this group means more than just basketball.
“I've coached these guys since kindergarten, first grade, I grew up with these boys,” Luce said.
Out of those four include Isaac Andrews, who is averaging 26.6 PPG this season. Andrews has been at the varsity level since his freshman year and has impacted the team by being their best player since his sophomore year.
Andrews is just 12 points shy from making history, scoring 2,000 all-time points, ahead of Friday's game against Shenandoah. The team also hopes to mark their 20th win of the season.
The community plans to honor those four seniors during senior night as well as honor Andrews for becoming Wapahani and Delaware County’s all-time leading scorer.
Andrews, though achieving a huge accomplishment, is looking forward. The senior has plans to possibly take home some hardware as the team drives into the post-season.
“It's a lot to take in on Friday...forever grateful for the support from the school and community, coaches and teammates, but I'm really looking forward to sectionals."
The team in past years have had great records, but they have struggled to get over the hump. The Raiders hope that this year will be different.
