During Ball State Student Government Association (SGA) Jan. 17 meeting, three senators were elected. Holley Hannegan, Casper Fischer and Liam Horan.
Before each senator was elected, they were given a platform to speak on what they want to accomplish in office.
Hannegan’s platform points were focused on cleaning up campus, protecting students from “abusive landlords” and find a way for Ball State to offer domestic health insurance, like Indiana University currently does.
For protecting students from “abusive landlords,” Hannegan elaborated that she’d like to find a way for students to give their input and a place to voice their experiences.
Hannegan was elected into SGA 30-0 with no absentions.
Horan spoke on his desire to focus on mental health resources and dining services education, such as bringing awareness to dining plus.
He was elected in 31-1 with two abstentions.
Fischers platform focused on gender inclusive restrooms, winter clothing drives and aid for student needs.
They were elected in 30-0 with zero abstentions.
SGA President Joseph Gassem Smith was not in attendance, and had his executive report read by SGA Vice President Monet Lindstrand.
SGA Treasurer Issac Ledford announced in his executive report that the semester senator allocation, which senators use on the student body, is $4,758.
SGA then announced that they have a tabling event with the Business Living Learning Community (LLC) from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 22.
Last, SGA Advisor Abby Haworth said the SGA election packet went live on Jan. 17 and that the nomination convention will be Feb. 1. The election packet is for people to apply to be on the executive board.

After the elections, and announcements from Ledford and Haworth, SGA had no new or unfinished business to vote on.
