The Ball State Student Government Association (SGA) began their meeting with a senate applicant for the At-Large Caucus.
Victoria Adebayo had interests in campus dining payment adjustments, increasing student parking as well as improving campus safety specifically in the residence halls.
“Even just locking your doors sometimes still doesn’t feel safe,” Adebayo said.
Adebayo was approved 30-1 with one abstention.
They then went into executive reports. Vice President Monet Lindstrand gave an update on the Menstruation Stations around campus and their plans to get funding to refill various locations as well as an update on their tabling and other initiatives with Health Promotion and Advocacy (HPA).
Treasurer Isaac Ledford encouraged the senate to put in all budget requests before finance committee this week, so they are able to be voted on before the end of the semester.
Next on the senate agenda was new and unfinished business.
“You’ll see our first piece of new business this semester,” Parliamentarian Brian Truell said.
SA 03:23-24 is a compilation of multiple updates to SGA’s governing documents. It would change multiple mentions of “secretary” to “Chief Administrator” to be accurate in the terms of the executive board.
It also amends that the presidential state of the senate address will be deemed the state of the student body to better reflect the content of the address. This along with various other updates to language in the document. This amendment will be voted on at the next senate meeting.
With no unfinished business, SGA went into caucus and committee meetings and ended with announcements, adjourning senate for the week.
