Sydney Jackson wins Delaware County High School Athlete of the Week, candidates for 11/22-11/29

Burris sophomore girls’ basketball player Sydney Jackson is the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 11/15-11/22. 

During that week, Jackson scored 28 points and recorded eight rebounds in games against Wes-Del and Wapahani. 

The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. A candidate from each school will be chosen and the community can vote for the winner. 

Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu

Here are your nominees for athlete of the week from 11/22 - 11/29. 

Delta: Senior boys basketball player D’Amare Hood - In the Eagles’ win over Daleville on Tuesday, Nov. 28, Hood led Delta with 20 points. 

Burris: Senior boys basketball player Asher Donahue - In the Owls loss to Frankton on Tuesday, Nov. 28, Donahue led Burris with 14 points.

Daleville: Sophomore girls basketball player Addi Gothrup - In the Broncos’ loss to Alexandria, Gothrup had 11 points, two rebounds, and one assist. 

Wapahani: Sophomore girls basketball player Emily Luce - In the Raiders’ win over Blue River on Tuesday, Nov. 28, Luce led with 12 points and grabbed three rebounds. 

Cowan: Senior boys basketball player Timmy Watson - Watson led the Blackhawks with 20 points and three assists in their loss to Hagerstown on Wednesday, Nov. 25. 

Wes-Del: Junior boys basketball player Josiah Love - In the Warriors win over Alexandria on Saturday, Nov. 25, Love led Wes-Del with 22 points and two blocks.
