Student Action Team breaks barriers for students with Cardinal Closet

MUNCIE, Ind. —  A student-led clothing drive, called Cardinal Closet, provides all students the opportunity to gain free, professional and business attire. The Student Action Team leads this drive.

Chandlar Williams, Student Action Team president, said “it can be a financial burden for students to afford business attire," which is why the closet is being provided as a free resource.

Cardinal Closet gathers donations through campus to provide to any and all students. Williams hopes this resource will eliminate obstacles for students who may need to adhere to a business-like dress code for a presentation, an interview or other work-related situation.

“Dress codes have a historical racist and classist background, so we are trying to break those barriers by providing this service,” Williams said.

Williams wants students to feel comfortable and be able to dress formally -- no matter the circumstance.

Cardinal Closet is located at Park Residence Hall in the Eastern Tunnel. Cardinal Closet is open during certain hours for the fall and is available for scheduled appointments online.
