The Ball State Student Government Association (SGA) began their meeting with a budget request for their participation in the Homecoming parade. The $200 request was approved on a vote of 30-0 with one abstention.

Vice President Monet Lindstrand and Treasurer Isaac Ledford then presented a budget reallocation for a bus stop shelter at the MU stop, which is opposite the Art and Journalism building near Bracken Library and the Hargreaves music building. It would move $2,000 from miscellaneous funds to the bus stop funds.

“The reasons that we came to a mutual agreement that this is the best stop for it is because it services a large number of students,” Lindstrand said. “It services all loops other than the blue loop and does not need new concrete…and its proximity to multiple student buildings.”

The bus stop itself will be a total of $18,500. Due to SGA’s limited budget, this stop is the only and most feasible stop to add a shelter because of usage and cost efficiency. The reallocation of funds was approved by the senate unanimously.

SGA then introduced two new senate applicants. Freshman Grant Roberts presented for the at-large caucus and was approved 30-0 with one abstention.

Noah Clark, a previous senator presented for the off-campus caucus and was approved 31-1 with no abstentions.

With no unfinished business and no new business, SGA went into executive reports.

President Joseph Gassensmith informed the senate of a meeting he had with Ro-Anne Royer Engle about the Studebaker West incident.

“It was a very productive conversation, and I will have some updates for you all in the coming weeks as things actually get rolling from that conversation,” Gassensmith said.

Chief of Staff Katrina Leming gave updates about the workings of cabinet and the various meetings that members have had with campus organizations and authorities to move forward with various initiatives. She notes that more updates will be given when points are finalized

SGA finished with caucus and committee meetings and was then adjourned.
