Students participate in bingo and enjoy music at a NAHJ’s meeting

MUNCIE, Ind.--- As Hispanic Heritage month continues, Ball State University's National Association of Hispanic Journalists Chapter takes a deep dive into what this month means to them.

The organization meets with a goal of embracing and furthering Hispanic Heritage in the Ball State Journalism community. Dahlia Aliwa, PR Director of the chapter, elaborated on what NAHJ is really about.

“NAHJ is focused on uplifting minority students within the school of Journalism,” Aliwa said.

The group is able to play games and participate in arts and crafts, while listening to music and enjoy refreshments. The members don’t always just play games and enjoy refreshments,

“We also help with networking,” Aliwa said.

NAHJ wants to make sure that the people that are involved in the chapter are ready for the real world, Aliwa stated “Professional workshops that help build career readiness skills.”

Aliwa mentions “every few months we have a social event that really strengthens our community as well.”

The group meets every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Unified Media Lab (UML), on the second floor of the Arts and Journalism Building. For more information follow NAHJ on Instagram @nahjbsu.
