Annual homecoming campus dinner

Ball State dining hosts a themed dinner to continue the homecoming week celebrations

MUNCIE, Ind.--- Ball State dining was hit with a blast from the past Wednesday as students enjoyed a TV dinner meal in honor of the 1970s homecoming theme.

The event took place Oct. 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at North Dining with a game night across the street on LaFollette field following at 6:30 p.m.

The homecoming menu included all traditional parts of a classic TV dinner including Salisbury steak, mac and cheese, and cheddar mashed potatoes which happened to be senior Jett McCleskey’s favorite part of the meal.

“I actually asked for two servings but unfortunately I couldn’t have them,” McCleskey jokingly said.

Many students and staff even embodied the retro fashion style and took the opportunity to dress up.

“When I heard there was a campus dinner and it was seventies themed and anyone could come I was like alright. I want to do it,” McCleskey said.

The Homecoming Steering Committee worked to decorate the dining hall, including hanging a mirror ball which brought the disco to the dinner as well.

Homecoming events like this brought students like Jett back onto campus to be more of a part of the school spirit.

“I don’t really come out to the dorms to eat a lot just because I have my own house,” McCleskey said. “As a senior, this is my last homecoming and all the events this year have just been really awesome.”

Wednesday marked the halfway point of homecoming week with many more events to come like bed races, AirJam and the big game. To stay in the loop on all that is happening the rest of the week you can follow Ball State Homecoming on Instagram @bsuhomecoming or visit Ball State’s website.
