Ball State drops home matchup against Hawkeyes

Ball State Field Hockey (4-4, 1-2 MAC) fell to Iowa (8-1, 2-0 B1G) 6-1 Sept. 26.

After the Hawkeyes scored first in the first quarter, Ball State equalized by way of first-year forward Fleur Knopert to go into the half tied 1-1. The assist came from fourth-year midfielder Angel Nkosi.

The goal would be the Cardinals' only of the match, coming from their only shot and only shot on goal.

Iowa controlled the game throughout with 28 shots, 17 on goal and five goals in the second half to run out winners.

Ball State's third-year goalkeeper Hannah Johnston notched 10 saves in the contest with 60 minutes plate.

Ball State Field Hockey continues Mid-American Conference (MAC) play against Central Michigan (1-8, 0-2 MAC) Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.
