A Delaware County girls tennis program wins Regional Championship and a litany of Delaware County athletes advance to the State Championship in Boys Track & Field. Many Sectionals in the area are postponed in May 26's Delaware County sports Roundup:

Delta Girls Tennis

Delta High School Girls Tennis won its school-record seventh consecutive Regional Championship May 26 with a 5-0 sweep of Alexandria High School. The match started outdoors May 25 at Marion High School, before being delayed and eventually postponed due to weather, where it finished indoors May 26 at the Howard County Tennis Center in Greentown, Indiana.

In No. 1 Singles, Delta senior Gwen Clark defeated Alexandria's Allie Clark, 6-0, 6-02. In No. 2 Singles, Delta sophomore Gabby Knight won over Alexandria's Kara Simison, 6-3, 6-13, for her 20th win of the season.

In No. 3 Singles Delta freshman Brylee Beckley defeated Alexandria's Gabby Hosier, 6-0, 7-5, handing Hosier her second loss of the season. The Tigers (Alexandria) and Eagles (Delta) faced off five weeks earlier, where Hosier defeated Beckley.

In No 1. Doubles, Delta senior Maggie Hunt and junior Janet Wegener defeated Alexandria's Carrie Remington and Taylor Stinefield, 6-1, 6-32. This was Hunt's 60th career victory in just three seasons and Delta Girls Tennis head coach Tim Cleland said he thinks she would rank in the top five of all-time wins in program history if not for her sophomore season being canceled due to COVID-19.

In No. 2 Doubles, Delta senior Madelyn Haley and junior Iva Witter beat Alexandria's Ally Honeycutt/Emily Leever, 6-3, 6-4.

This is the first time since 2017 that Delta has swept all of its Sectional and Regional opponents 5-0.
