Ball State Women's Tennis (19-4, 8-2 MAC) traveled to Austin, Texas for the first-round of the NCAA Tournament against the University of Texas (21-4, 8-1 BIG12) May 6. The 2022 Mid-American Conference Tournament Champions were swept by the Longhorns in the doubles and singles matches to end Ball State's postseason run.
In the #1 doubles match, Ball State's junior Amy Kaplan and senior Hannah Davies fell to sophomore Peyton Stearns and freshman Allura Zamarripa 4-6. In the #2 match, Texas' sophomore pairing of Kylie Collins and Charlotte Chavatipon defeated sophomore Mariya Polishchuck and junior Emma Peeler 6-0. The #3 match featured Ball State's senior Livia Lukacs and junior Jessica Braun against freshman Vivian Ovrootsky and freshman Sabina Zeynalova but was abandoned with the Lukacs and Braun up 4-3 after Texas had won the first two matches.
In the singles matchups, only three courts finished play before the match was decided. Davies fell to Chavatipon in two sets (6-1 and 6-0) in the #3 match, Zamarripa defeated Lukacs in two sets (6-1 and 6-0) in the #5 match and Kaplan lost to Zeynalova in two sets (6-1, 6-1) in the #3 match.
The #1 match featuring Polishchuk/Stearns (6-1 and 5-3), the #2 match with Buran/Collins (6-2, 4-1) and the #3 match of freshman Elena Malykh (Ball State) against Ovrootsky (6-1, 4-1) did not finish after Texas earned its fourth, and match sealing point.
Stearns, Collins and Zeynalova all rank in the top 100 nationally for the Longhorns, helping the three-time national championship rank No. 3 heading into their match with the unranked Cardinals.
Ball State will return to the court in the 2023 season.

Self-immolation outside Manhattan courthouse where Trump trial is adjourned

Azzarello was extinguished and rushed away by emergency services. He is in critical condition at Weill Cornell Medicine - Burn Center, according to a press conference held by the New York Police Department (NYPD).
