2022 One Ball State Day recap

MUNCIE, Ind.---April 5, 2022, otherwise known as One Ball State Day here at Ball State University.

This is a day-long event that spans across the entire university. Here in Muncie, it’s a day of celebration and excitement for students and staff.

One person who is very happy about this day is Paaige Turner, who is the Dean of the College of Communication, Information and Media here at Ball State University.

“One Ball State Day is our day of annual giving. It’s a day where our alumni, our industry partners, our faculty, our staff, and students give back to the community," she stated.

Not only is One Ball State Day about giving, it’s also a great way for students to connect with their peers.

“So, for One Ball State Day I had to work the table” said graduate assistant Brandon Benning. “It is such an awesome way to connect to students by handing out free stuff and being enjoyment and excitement for One Ball State Day.”

Handing out free stuff to students is also what drives graduate assistant Matthew Marshall to One Ball State Day as well.

“It’s a good day for us to come together because a day where we can all handout different trinkets and gadgets and stuff like that," he said. "That alone makes it really nice because we’re able to put a smile on everyone’s face.”

Many free things include shirts, stickers, pens and more. And free items aren’t the only things that you could see at One Ball State Day.

“It honestly reminds me a little bit of that comradery and brotherhood that we see in the military, especially coming back for One Ball State Day. You get to see all these people from all over the country come back and donate and do all of these amazing things for the students here at allow for more opportunities," Marshall said.

At the end of the day, only one thing is on the minds of our faculty.

“Get involved," Turner said. “Take that step outside of your dorm room and be a part of our community.”

With the fourth annual One Ball State Day wrapping up, Dean Turner’s Goal for the university was to reach one million dollars.

At the end of the day at April 5, Ball State University raised $1,012,653 dollars.
