The Recipe for a Relaxing Weekend at Home

If life has been feeling like one big cycle of work, sleep, repeat, you could probably use a weekend off. With work consuming most of our time during the week, the weekends typically get reserved for chores like cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping. It can be all too easy to let self-care fall to the bottom of your priority list. Next weekend, take some time to relax and do things for yourself. Trust us, we all need (and deserve) it sometimes.

Spruce Up Your Space

  • One of the best ways to relax is to spend some time relaxing at home. However, with many of us having spent more time at home than ever the past few years, our spaces could probably use some freshening up. Now that our homes are finished doubling as offices, schoolrooms, and just about everything else, this is the perfect time to make your space feel relaxing again. Here are some things you can do to refresh your space:
  • If you are feeling bored with your décor, a fun and hassle-free way to change up your space is with accent pieces. You don’t need an entirely new set of furniture to make your home feel new. Changing out accent pillows and throw blankets for different colors or textures or adding in some new plants or candles can totally change the feel of the room.
  • Scents have the power to enhance mood, improve focus and even trigger memories. How your home smells can have a big impact on your ability to relax. Home fragrance comes in many different forms. Candles are always a go to option as they also offer ambiance. When you’re not burning your candles, you can keep your place smelling amazing with room sprays, oil diffusers or fresh flowers.
  • Similar to scents, music has a way of making us feel good. If you have a record player, you need to check out these Jhene Aiko vinyl records. Get yourself in the mood by putting on some records and jamming to some good music.
  • The best part of a long relaxing weekend is getting a good night’s sleep. We also spend a third of our time in bed, so replacing your bedding every now and then is never a bad idea. Treat yourself to a new luxurious set of sheets for ultimate relaxation. Check out some of the best sheets we’ve ever slept on if you need some ideas.
  • If you are a pet owner, you know that sprucing up your space means something new for your furry friend too! After all, how can you unwind without your pet? To get your pet in the mood to relax, swap their old bed for the Wild One dog bed. This bed is water-resistant, made of tiered foam and is in the perfect shape for snuggling. It comes in three different sizes and can be bundled together with their stainless-steel matching dog bowls.

Treat Yourself

Obviously, you need to treat yourself to some good food and drinks on your weekend off. But we are trying to relax, so that means no cooking. That’s where healthy meal boxes come in. You have probably seen meal delivery services all over the internet. Some of these require you to cook with the pre-portioned ingredients they provide. When looking for a meal service that is truly hassle-free, go with a delivery service that offers fresh and tasty already prepared meals. You can choose from a range of options that will fit your lifestyle. This way you can take some of the burden of cooking off your place not just on the weekends. And of course, don’t be afraid to treat yourself to take-out one of the nights. You don’t need to stick to healthy food the entire weekend.

Let’s talk about drinks, and I’m not just talking white claws. It’s fun to treat yourself to a few cocktails on the weekends. If you have no idea where to start when making a drink, here’s one of our favorite simple margarita recipes:

Ingredients

  • Four ounces tequila (or mezcal if you like more depth)
  • Two ounces lime juice
  • Half ounce simple syrup
  • One ounce Grand Marnier
  • One teaspoon agave

Shake together and serve over ice in a salt rimmed glass and garnish with a lime. Take a sip and get the weekend started!

Self-Care

A little self-care is a must on the weekends. Our favorite way to do this is with an at home spa day. Grab your margarita and relax into a warm bubble bath with some candles and a record. We recommend picking up some new bubble bath or bath salts. Bath bombs are also a fun way to liven up your bath. If you have a tub that isn’t particularly comfortable, consider purchasing a foam bath pillow. But be warned, it can be extremely hard to leave the tub when you have one of these. You can also find adjustable bath trays that can fit onto any size tub. These give you a space to put anything you may need while in the tub. You will have easy access to bath products, a book or your margarita.

Don’t forget about your skin! Treat your skin to a face mask while you soak and then follow up with Renew skin care to help moisturize and brighten. For the body, we love a good sugar scrub to use in the bath. Then lather up with body butter or body oil to really lock in moisture.

Your hair is going to need a little love too. A hair mask or even simple coconut oil is great to use while you’re soaking in the tub. Let it sit on your hair for around ten minutes before rinsing. Then put your hair up in an aquis rapid dry hair wrap while you finish up your bath.

Looking Forward to the Weekend!

Now all that’s left to do is wait for Friday to come. Don’t worry, before you know it you’ll be enjoying your relaxing weekend at home. Just hang in there!
