We were 7 degrees from the record high of 68 degrees set back in 2018, as sunshine and southerly breezes boosted temperatures into the lower 60s. A high of 61 degrees at the Muncie airport this afternoon makes today the first day over 60 degrees in Muncie for 2022! Our last 60 degree day was recorded on December 27, 2021.

Tonight: Temperatures won't move all that much overnight, making for a mild low of 54 degrees. Moderate to heavy rain moves in overnight, with possible isolated thunderstorms between 2-4 AM. Winds stay out of the south at 15 MPH, with gusts up to 30 MPH. A Flood Watch goes into effect at 1 AM Tuesday and lasts through 1 AM on Wednesday. We renew concerns for river flooding with the rain set to move through combining with melting snow and warmer ground temperatures.

Tomorrow: Rain will generally become more scattered throughout the day, but you will still want an umbrella or rain jacket if you're headed out for work or school! Southerly winds will continue, gusting up to 30 MPH at times throughout the day. We will climb to 61 degrees for the high tomorrow, which will occur around noon.

7-Day Forecast: Weather whiplash is ahead! After rain and isolated storms Tuesday, we are watching the potential for a possible winter storm to make its way into Central Indiana from late Wednesday night through early Friday morning. It is too early to detail timing or snow amounts, but right now we are looking at wintry mix on Thursday morning, changing over to possible heavy snow by Thursday evening. All forms of precipitation are on the table for Thursday, including rain, snow, sleet, and ice. After Thursday, we dry out and look to finish the month with below average temperatures. Stay tuned for more updates!
