The Ball State Frank A. Bracken Administration Building was evacuated at approximately 2:30 p.m. Jan. 14.

Fire Lieutenant Scott Hahn said the fire alarm was sounded after smoke was allegedly seen coming from an elevator. By approximately 2:40 p.m., the faculty had returned to the building and the firetrucks and police cars had cleared the area.

Andrew Walker, senior communications strategist, said the smoke was caused due to a mechanical issue with the elevator. There was no fire reported.
