In its exhibition game against Oakland City Nov. 3, Ball State Women’s Basketball defeated the Mighty Oaks 122-26.

It was game of firsts for the Cardinals. It was their first game in front of a full capacity Worthen Arena crowd since the 2019-2020 season, but it was also their first game in a new offensive scheme.

Redshirt junior forward Anna Clephane scored 20 points, and is excited to compete in the newly implemented offense.

“At first, throwing yourself into a new system is going to be hard," Clephane said. "It’s going to be challenging, but this team really took it in stride."

Junior guard Sydney Freeman finished with 14 points. Similar to Clephane, Freeman expressed her excitement for the new scheme.

“I think it puts more points up on the board because everyone is doing what they are comfortable with,” Freeman said.

Ball State Women's Basketball took on Oakland City University on Nov. 3 at Worthen Arena. The lady Cardinals dominated Okland with a final Score of 122-26.

Each player said this positionless offense allows the floor to become more open.

Head Coach Brady Sallee was pleased with the Cardinals' enthusiasm in front of the home crowd for the first time since March 6.

“We were really active, all our energy levels stayed up,” Sallee said. “We played a lot off our defense, which is the plan.”

Sallee believes this offense allows a lot of the skillset the Cardinals possess to flourish.

Senior forward Thelma Dis Agustsdottir, graduate student Chyna Latimer, sophomore guard Ivet Subirats and junior guard Etsel Puiggros all scored in double figures.

The Cardinals return to action Nov. 9th against Milwaukee at Worthen Arena. Tipoff is 11:30 a.m.
