Ball State president elected MAC chair, named to NCAA Board of Directors

As of June 9, the Mid-American Conference (MAC) elected Ball State President Geoffrey Mearns the MAC's chair of the Council of Presidents.

Mearns replaces the University at Buffalo President Satish Tripathi, who was chair for the last four academic years.

Mearns was also named the MAC representative for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of 20 chief executive officers (CEOs), one director of athletics, one senior woman administrator, one faculty athletics representative, and one student-athlete.

For the last year, Mearns served as the MAC representative to the NCAA Presidential Forum, and he will be replaced by Central Michigan University President Robert Davies.
