Third One Ball State Day smashes previous records

MUNCIE, Ind.(NewsLink) -- April 6 marked the third annual One Ball State Day, the biggest day of donations on Ball State’s campus.

"It's a 24 hour virtual fundraising event that we have the opportunity to give back to the departments and scholarship funds that have helped us," said senior Myra Carlton, a student who received a scholarship thanks to the donors in previous years.

Throughout the day, numbers continued to rise, which inspired a rise in excitement.

"People, you see them with a smile on their face and that's really nice,” said Isaac Miller, the Digital Strategic Creator for the BSU Foundation.

To help build the excitement during the day, the BSU Foundation set up games, competitions and a big screen to allow students the ability to watch the donations grow. The biggest hit of the day was the cardboard cutouts of Deans from all across Ball State’s colleges.

"It's great because I love seeing my students in the college want to be part and engage with me," said Dean of the College of Communication, Information and Media Paaige Turner.

Some deans, like Turner, professors and alumni offered incentives throughout the day to encourage people to donate.

“I’m donating 500 dollars to the best story on our story wall... In addition, when CCIM reaches 1000 gifts, I will donate another 500 dollars,” said Turner.

CCIM reached that goal as Ball State passed the previous fundraising record from 2020.

Donations will be accepted until midnight at the One Ball State website. You can donate to the university as a whole or to a specific college or organization. Donations are a minimum $5.
