Four officers from the Muncie Police Department have been indicted on charges of excessive force and obstruction.

The charges come from an investigation into incidents from 2018.

The officer indicted April 14 has been placed on administrative leave until the department can further determine what to do with their status. Two of the previously charged officers have been on administrative leave, without pay, since 2018.

The final charged officer has resigned from active duty and is transitioning into retirement.

According to a press release, the officers charged are Joseph Chase Winkle, Jeremy Gibson and Corey Posey. Sergeant Joseph Krejsa was also charged.

Winkle's actions included kicking, punching, knee-striking and using a taser on arrestees without justification. Gibson's actions included punching, stomping on and knee-striking arrestees without justification.

Posey and Krejsa are both charged with writing false reports about the events.
