Ball State is hosting its fourth Benjamin V. Cohen Peace Conference April 9-10. The theme this year is "Building a Beloved Community," and will feature presentations, dance performances and opportunities for networking.
The conference is hosted by the Ball State Center for Peace and Conflict Studies and honors the legacy and dedication of Benjamin V. Cohen, a contributor to the New Deal and a key figure in former President Franklin D. Roosevelt's administration.
Each of the events will be held on Zoom, with registration required beforehand.

April 9
Keynote Speech
4 p.m., Zoom
The keynote speech for the Peace Conference is called "Why Not Me?" from Derris Ross, founder and CEO of the Ross Foundation. The Ross Foundation is a non-profit organization in Indianapolis that encourages positive behavior and academic excellence in youth.
Conversation with Tania Isreal
7 p.m., Zoom
Tania Isreal is a professor at the University of California Santa Barbara. Isreal wrote "Beyond the Bubble: How to Connect Across the Political Divide" and "Skills and Strategies for Conversations that Work."
April 10
"Building a Beloved Community" Town Hall
10 a.m., Zoom
Ball State President Geoffrey Mearns and Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour are hosting a town hall on how to build a beloved community in Muncie. The town hall will be moderated by Lawrence Gerstein, director of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies.
"Muslims in Muncie" Screening and Discussion
7 p.m., Zoom
Elizabeth Agnew, Ball State director of Women's and Gender Studies, is moderating a film screening and discussion on "Muslims in Muncie." Agnew will be moderating along with Afrah Ali, Safwan Malasalih and Saber Bahrami.
