The Weeknd announces ‘After Hours’ 2022 tour ahead of Super Bowl Halftime Show performance

by Kellyn Harrison

On Feb. 3, The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, announced that his twice rescheduled After Hours world tour will officially kick off in January of 2022. The tour celebrates his album, After Hours. Even though the album released in March of 2020, the tour was continuously rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, instead of pushing it back yet another year, Tesfaye plans to add on only another six months to the wait.

The announcement came after Tesfaye expressed he wasn't sure whether his next tour would celebrate this most recent album or a completely new one.

“It’s a whole puzzle I’m trying to wrap my head around right now,” expressed Tesfaye, Billboard.

On Feb. 8, ticket purchases for newly released dates will be available on the artist's tour website. Tickets go on sale the day after the artist's Super Bowl LV Halftime Show on Feb. 7.

The tour is scheduled to start in Vancouver, Canada on Jan. 14, 2022, and end in London on Nov. 16, 2022. The announcement lists 104 dates with locations in North America and Europe. Dates previously scheduled for 2020 and 2021 are listed as well. Tickets previously bought for rescheduled shows are still valid for the 2022 tour.

Alongside the tour, Tesfaye announced his project, The Highlights, will release Feb. 5. The project features an album collecting music from the artist's career within the past decade. The collection includes big hits like "Can’t Feel My Face", "The Hills", and "Blinding Lights". "Blinding Lights" itself, broke the record for listing the longest in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100. The record surpassed Post Malone’s record of 39 weeks with his track "Circles". The Highlights is available for pre-ordering on platforms including the iTunes store and Amazon music
