Ball State to require spring 2021 COVID-19 tests for all students

In a campus-wide email sent Nov. 16, 2020, Ball State Vice President for Student Affairs Ro-Anne Royer Engle said all students will be required to submit a COVID-19 test result to the university administered within 7 days of returning to campus for the spring 2021 semester.

Royer Engle said students may be tested by local health care providers, private testing centers or through options provided by the Indiana State Department of Health.

Students can be exempt from this requirement if they are only taking online classes and will not be on campus during the spring 2021 semester, if they tested positive within 90 days of returning to campus or if they are approved for an exception by the Director of the Health Center.

Students who test negative and live in on-campus residence halls will receive a confirmation of their move-in time. Off-campus students who test negative may return to campus on Jan. 19, 2021 at the start of the semester. Students who test positive will be given instructions on how to isolate before returning to campus.

Failing to submit test results to the university will result in not being permitted to move into residence halls and not having academic access until results are submitted.
