In a press release sent out around noon Wednesday, Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour announced that Board of Public Works and Safety member Jerry Wise has been removed from the board.

According to the release, Wise, who served as vice president on the board, was removed after making an “inappropriate comment” in relation to a question of retiree health insurance during the Board of Works meeting Oct. 28.

Ridenour said in the release he is hopeful that removing Wise is “the first step to repair the damage made by his errant statement and restore dignity to our entire city.”
