In a press release sent Tuesday, the City of Muncie confirmed that the city's July 4 fireworks will go ahead as scheduled this year.
Two fireworks performances, conducted by Fireworks by Grucci, will be taking place to mark 244 years since the independence of the United States. The first show will be synchronized to music, aired by WLBC and will take place 10 p.m. July 4 on the grounds of Muncie Central High School. The second show will be displayed at dark July 5 at Prairie Creek Reservoir.
“The show on July 4th will be another exciting family friendly event,” said Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour in the press release. “We are happy to help mark Americas birthday in a single, unforgettable performance.”
The Gruccis are planning a spectacle featuring specialty pyrotechnical patterns including “USA” Alpha-Grucci shells, Happy Faces and other effects in a wide array of colors, the press release states.
The City of Muncie will be adhering to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb's Stage Five Back On Track plan for both shows. Face coverings are recommended and social distancing is encouraged for the fireworks celebration.
Those wishing to watch the celebrations from their vehicles can listen to the synchronized music show on WLBC, 104.1. Those outside their vehicles are encouraged to practice social distancing in accordance with stage five guidelines and turn the volume up on their radios.
Should any plans for July 4 celebrations change, the City of Muncie will post updates on its Facebook page and notify media outlets.
