Ball State employee says he tested positive for COVID-19

According to a university press statement Thursday, a Ball State public safety employee has let the university know he as tested positive for COVID-19.

It states the university is is waiting on confirmation from local public health authorities.

"We wish him well in his recovery," the statement reads.

Ball State has been taking measures to protect its campus community by moving classes to remote teaching, asking employees to work remotely, closing residence halls and reminding the university community about the importance of social distancing measures, the press statement reads.

It states the university has been doing “deep cleaning sanitizing” in all facilities on campus and thoroughly cleaning all high touch surface areas throughout campus, per CDC guidelines.

Employees remaining on campus are provided with information daily about social distancing and with personal protective equipment to ensure their safety, it reads.

Approximately 100 students and 300 essential employees are currently on campus, the statement reads.

"It is our hope that by reducing the number of students, faculty and staff on campus, the risk to others continues to be mitigated," it states.
