Ball State president appoints VP of student affairs

According to Ball State's website, Ro-Anne Royer Engle's areas of responsibility include the Career Center, Counseling and Health Services, Disability Services, Greek Life, Health, Alcohol, and Drug Education, Housing and Residence Life, Multicultural Center, Public Safety, Retention and Graduation, Student Center and Programs, Student Legal Services, Student Life, Student Conduct and Title IX compliance.

Ro-Anne Royer Engle has been appointed as Ball State's vice president of student affairs, according to a campus-wide email announcement sent out by President Geoffrey Mearns.

Since January 2019, Royer Engle was serving as Ball State's interim vice president of student affairs, Mearns said.

"During this time, she has led this important division with competence and conviction," he said. "And over the last few weeks, she has played a significant role in organizing our response to the current public health crisis."

Royer Engle began her decade-long career at Ball State as a residence hall director in 2000, according to Ball State's website. She has also served as an assistant director of Housing and Residence Life, director of the Multicultural Center and associate vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services.

"Throughout her service, Ro-Anne has worked diligently and effectively to provide our students with experiences and support programs that enhance their success and prepare them for fulfilling careers and meaningful lives," Mearns said.

She will begin serving in her role as a vice president effective immediately, he said.
